Bangladesh garment sector concerns Congresswoman

Congresswoman Grace Meng, the first ever Asian-American from New York elected in the present Congress, expressed her concern over negative impact in Bangladesh garment sector after Savar building collapse.Grace Meng, a member of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, came up with the concern while addressing a press conference on Friday afternoon (New York local time).
Meng, also one of the members of Bangladesh Caucus, said an initiative would be taken for Congressional hearing on the issue.
Assemblyman David Wiprint and deferent levels leader of Democratic Party were present at the press meet.
Community leaders and journalists of many Bangladeshi media in New York addressed the proggrame.
Grace Meng expressed her regret over the death 500 people in Savar building collapse. She also urged Bangladesh government to take all kinds of preventive measures to avert such incidents in future.
The congresswoman expressed her concerned for creating instability among international buyers following such the big accident in Bangladesh garment sector.
Community leaders also expressed their concern over some retailers’ decision to pull out form Bangladesh and requested her to take effective steps in this regard.
In reply, Grace Meng said, “A meeting will be held in next week in Washington with Bangladesh Caucus co-chairman Joseph Crawley and others. Congressional hearing will be arranged, if necessary.”
