For the first time in the nation’s history, a Bangladeshi has not only been listed high among the richest people in the world, but he occupies the coveted No. 5 spot in all of Asia.Flamboyant business tycoon Dr. Moosa Bin Shamsher has skyrocketed ‘rich’ to a new level that many calculators are incapable of processing.
In its annual Top Ten Richest People from the Third World Countries, Net Worth Buzz has placed the internationally-renowned controversial arms dealer at No. 5, sandwiched between Shaher Abdulhak of Yemen ($9 Billion) and Michael Bambang Hartono of Indonesia ($15 Billion).
The richest man in Bangladesh, however, has some distance to go yet before rubbing shoulders, wealth-wise, with the richest man in Asia, India’s Mukesh Ambani ($50.8 billion), but Dr. Moosa’s on the right track and travelling with lightening fast speed.
In 2017, his longtime business partner, mentor, and friend; world-renowned arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi bequeathed to him 20-billion Euros in his will. Its arrival in Bangladesh would immediately catapult the already multi-billionaire into the No. 2 position on the coveted rich list.
He is presently awaiting approval from the Government of Bangladesh to bring-in the funds and put them to philanthropic use. Upon arrival, he said most of it would be given away to benefit the people of Bangladesh. This includes the immediate donation of $1-billion to a mental institution in Pabna and the building of a state-of-the-art 1,000-bed hospital on par with the world’s best.
The Father of Bangladesh Manpower Exports, has travelled fast and far on the road to success from his humble beginnings in Faridipur. His success is shared by Bangladesh as another indication of the rapid development of the nation.
