Dhaka – A clash took place over silly matter between some followers of president and secretary Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) unit in Mymensingh at KR market on Thursday evening.
Witnesses said, an altercation occurred between followers of Md Sabuj Kazi, president of BAU unit BCL and Miah Md Rubel, secretary of same unit at a procession during the celebration of the 69th founding anniversary of BCL on the campus. As a sequence of the incident BCL 25-30 activists of secretary controlled Hossain Suhrawardy Hall attacked some activists of president controlled Shaheed Nazmul Ahsan Hall. The clash left 7-8 activists injured.
Later, activists of Shaheed Nazmul Ahsan Hall beat up Shuvo Roy inside the dormitory.
Shuvo, a fourth year student of agriculture faculty and suspected fellow of Miah Md Rubel, does not participate actively in the political activities. Prof Siddiqur Rahman, the provost of the dormitory, was late to come up with help to the dormitory while Shuvo was gnawing with pain in his room.
Later, assistant proctors came with an ambulance and took him to the health care centre.
BAU unit BCL president and secretary said, the incident occurred over personal conflict. A compromise between the conflicting groups has been made that they would not repeat the same behavior again, they added.
BAU proctor Prof Dr AKM Zakir Hossain said, BCL leaders have been came to a solution. They also have been warned that law will be enforced if any type of unrest will occur in the campus. – BAU Correspondent
