Biswajit murder trial from July 8

The trial of the Biswajit Das murder case will begin on July 8. Judge-in-Charge of Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka Dewan Muhammad Shafiullah fixed the date on Tuesday.Special Public Prosecutor of the tribunal, SM Rafiqul Islam told journalists the latest development on Tuesday.
He said, “We got the documents of Biswajit murder case on Monday. The case was transferred to the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 on June 30. However, the former Judge of Speedy Trial Tribunal-4, Md Motahar Hossain was transferred to Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-3 on June 24.”
Another Dhaka court earlier announced a date to start hearing on charge framing against 21 accused Chhatra League activists in the case.
On March 5, the detective police submitted the charge sheet against 21 accused for their alleged involvement in the killing.
Of the accused, seven are now detained in the jail and 14 others are on the run. Some 60 people were made witnesses in the case.
On December 9 in 2012, Biswajit, a 24-year-old tailor was killed in an attack by a group of BCL leaders and activists near to the capital’s Bahadur Shah Park in front of Jagannath University.
