Bnp, allies call mass processions on Thursday

The BNP-led 20-party alliance will bring out mass processions across the country on Thursday amid its ongoing blockade and hartal programmes to press home it’s a set of demands including immediate national election under a neutral administration.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salauddin Ahmed announced the programme on Tuesday saying that the mass processions will be brought out in all districts, upazilas, municipalities, Thanas and wards of all metropolitan areas.“As the government has yet to give in public demands, the 20-party combine has once again extended the 72-hour hartal by 48 hours until 6am Friday amid its blockade programme to press home the same demand. Besides, it will bring out processions across the country — in all districts, upazilas, municipalities, Thanas and wards of metropolitan areas,” he added.
Chief of the 20-party alliance and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia urged the people and its leaders and activists of all units to observe the ongoing blockade-hartal and mass procession programmes peacefully, Salauddin said.
The BNP leader said if the government does not give in to the ‘public demand’ within this time, they will be bound to give tougher programmes including countrywide hartal from next Sunday. – News Desk
