BNP leader held as Minister’s ‘distorted’ photos on Facebook

Faridpur, Nov 25 – Police arrested a BNP leader over an allegation of posting distorting photos of different ministers on social media site Facebook. The detainee was identified as Md Jakir Hossain, 40, BNP’s Sadar Upazila official secretary and son of Abdur Rashid Mollah of Bedari village in Sadar Upazila.
AKM Shamim Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Jakir digitally edited an image defacing some ministers’ photos and posted it on his Facebook timeline.
Following this Facebook post, police conducted a drive and arrested him from in front of the upazila auditorium on Saturday night around 11 pm.
Later on Sunday, he was sent to jail after being produced before the court and charged with offences under the Digital Security Act, the OC added. – UNB
