Charge hearing against Mahmudur Rahman deferred

Dhaka-A Dhaka court on Monday deferred the hearing on charge framing against the Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman to March 9 in a case filed against him for sabotage.Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj of the CMM Court of Dhaka passed the order fixing the new date. Earlier, the court heard the submissions of the prosecution and the defence on a petition seeking time. However, Mahmudur Rahman did not appear to the court on Monday.
The brief statement of the case says that on June 2, 2010, the accused persons of the case interrupted police while they were performing their official duties in front of the CMM Court of Dhaka. They allegedly attempted to snatch away Mahmudur Rahman from the custody of police. Kotwali Police Station SI Shahjahan Mia filed the case on the same day.
On December 31, 2010, Kotwali Police Station SI Paritosh submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court including the names of Mahmudur Rahman, his associates among others- Zulfiquar Ali, Shahidul Islam and Hafizur Rahman.-Special Correspondent
