‘Charge-sheets in Rana Plaza case possible if accused hauled’

The Investigation Officer (IO) of the cases filed in connection with Rana Plaza building collage said on Wednesday that the submission of charge sheets of the cases would not be possible till all accused of the cases are taken into custody.
“The investigation is at last phase, some 22 accused in the cease have been arrested and efforts are on to nab the other accused,” said Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Assistant Commissioner Krisna Kar, who is also the IO of the cases.Krisna said, “Drives are being carried out time to time, but submission of charge sheets is being delayed as all accused have not been arrested yet.” Wednesday was earlier scheduled to submit the charge sheets of the cases.
The officer, however, claimed charge sheet would be submitted immediately after arrest of all accused.
On April 24, 2013, the eight-storied Rana Plaza building collapsed at Savar, near Dhaka that claimed 1,136 lives and injury of 2,238 others.
Two cases were filed in connection with the tragedy. A case was filed for killing people by negligence under the sections no 304A/337/338 of the Penal Code while another was filed under section 12 of the Building Construction Act 1952. Later, sections 323/325/326 of the Penal Code were added.
The IO of the two cases said, statements of some 1,000 people would be recorded in the cases.
Savar Police Station Sub-Inspector Wali Ashraf Khan filed a killing case with the Police Station on April 25, 2013 while Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Authorized Officer Helal Ahmed filed another case for violation of the construction act. – Staff Reporter
