Civil Service College needs changes: Muhith

Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday said the governing body as well as the curricula of the Civil Service College should undergo changes to become a centre of excellence for education on public policy and management.Addressing the inauguration of the new campus of the Civil Service College, Dhaka, at Agargaon, the minister said the existing trustee and governing body of the college is laden with people for the civil services, and suggested allowing more stakes to the persons from the academia and the private sector.   The Civil Service College, Dhaka, is a postgraduate institution offering courses with specialisation on three areas — governance and public policies, international economic relations, and human resource management.   The governing body of the college includes four former caretaker government advisers — AB Mirza Azizul Islam, Syed Manzur Elahi, Akbar Ali Khan and Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury.   The trustee board of the college also includes the chief adviser of the last caretaker government Fakhruddin Ahmed.   Presided over by the college’s trustee board member former Secretary Abdur Rashid, the function was also addressed by Prime Minister’s adviser HT Imam and college principal Mohammad Haroonur Rashid. – UNB
