Dhaka – A Chittagong court on Wednesday sentenced a gold smuggler to six years imprisonment in a case filed for smuggling 45 gold bars through Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport (CSAIA) in 2014.The convicted is Md Badiul Alam, hailing from Paschim Gujrar union in Raojan upazila.The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default he has to suffer two months more jail.According to prosecution, customs intelligence arrested Badiul along with 45 gold bars on December 28, 2014.Later, a case was filed with Patenga Police Station.After examining all the records and 10 witnesses, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shah-e-Nur handed down the verdict in the afternoon.UNB news agency
