Cyber crimes unit for Bangladesh Police soon: Minister

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said a cyber crimes unit of police will be formed soon for dealing with cyber crimes in the country.
“We’re reshuffling the police administration to modernize the force as criminals now use sophisticated technology,’’ he said, speaking after inaugurating the ’Criminal Database Management System’ (CDMS) at a function at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) headquarters.Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmood Khandker and Director General of RAB M Mukhlesur Rahman, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
The state minister said: “RAB is also being modernized… some people openly made bad remarks about RAB and later the same people admitted good works of the elite force.”
“Action is always taken against the RAB members whenever any of them is found involved in evil deeds,” he added.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government has decided to appoint another 50,000 people to increase the efficiency of the police force.
The process of recruiting 17,000 people is underway while the rest 33,000 will be recruited gradually, he added. – UNB
