Election Commissioner M Shah Newaz on Tuesday categorically said the schedule of bifurcated Dhaka city corporations (DCC) polls would be declared after Ramadan.
The election commissioner came up with the observation while talking to journalists at election commission secretariat in the noon.
M Shah Newaz said, “The election schedules of Gazipur City Corporation and Kishoreganj-4 polls will be announced on Wednesday morning.”
He also said DCC election would be held after resolving all difficulties, including demarcation.
On May 13, the High Court cleared the way of holding the election to the bifurcated DCC withdrawing its stay order on the process for holding the elections.
On April 16 last year, an HC bench stayed for three months all initiatives of the election commission relating to holding of elections to the DCC, slated for May 24 last year. (banglanews24.com)
