Defamation case against Khaleda: Report March 13

Dhaka, Feb 12 – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday deferred the submission of the investigation report in a defamation case filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Standing Committee member of the party, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy to March 13.Magistrate Mazharul Haque of the CMM court passed the order yesterday as the investigation officer of the case failed to submit the report of the case on Monday. The investigation officer so far took time for 20 times to give the report.
Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui filed the case accusing the two leaders of defamation. On December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia allegedly made defamatory comment against martyrs at a meeting arranged at the Engineers Institution Bangladesh of Dhaka.
On the other hand, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy made similar comments about martyred intellectuals at a discussion meeting arranged at the Jatiya Press Club of the city on December 25 of the same year. – Special Correspondent
