The EU Head of Delegation to Bangladesh and three foreign envoys working here met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday and stressed the need for dialogue to resolve the ongoing political crisis.The nearly one-a-half-our meeting that began around 7pm was held at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office
EU Head of Delegation to Bangladesh Ambassador William Hanna, Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Heather Cruden, Japanese Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima and German Ambassador Dr Albrecht Conze attended the meeting.
BNP vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, chairperson’s advisers Riaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed were also present at the meeting.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden said they think political parties should immediately engage in dialogue to resolve the country’s political stalemate.
“We want tell all the political parties of Bangladesh to avoid political violence. We’ll welcome a meaningful dialogue between the government and the opposition,” she added. (Source: UNB)
