The activities of the trial of Felani killing will begin on August 13 in a special court of BSF at
Coochbihar district of West Bengal province in India. The father of Felani Nurul Islam Nuru, Maternal
uncle Abdul Hanif, Public Prosecutor(PP) and eminent lawyer of Kurigram advocate Abraham Lincoln
and Commanding Officer(CO) of 45 BGB Battalion Lt. Col. Zeaul Haque Khaled will start for India
for witness.The father of the deceased Felani Nurul Islam Nuru told New Nation that my daughter
Felani was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) like a bird. I want sentence to death of
the killer BSF. The mother of Felani Jahanara Begum along with the villagers demanded the same
verdict.Public Prosecutor of eminent lawyer of Kurigram on Tuesday told that Felani’s family will get
the actual verdict and the border killing will decrease through the trial.Earlier a teen aged girl Felani
daughter of Nurul Islam Nuru of village Kolonitary under Ramkhana union of Nageswari upazila in
Kurigram district who lived with her parents in Assam province in India. Her marriage was settled
here causing Felani along with her father was entering into Bangladesh territory through Anantapur
frontier under Phulbari upazila in the district crossing sub pillar no-3 of international main pillar no-
947 early in the morning on January 07, 2011. Her wearing dress was strangled with the barbed
wire causing she begun to shout. BSF on patrol opened fire on her. She died on the spot and her
dead body hung with the barbed wire for four hours like a bird. The inhuman and pathetic scene
published in various media shocked among the people of both Bangladesh and abroad. Later the
dead body was handed over to BGB after a flag meeting between BGB and BSF after 30 hours of
killing.The government gave him financial assistance and Nurul Islam Nuru is now doing a business
but the business is not running well due to lack of fund. He is maintaining his family with three sons
and two daughters with hardship, Nuru said. – Our Correspondent
