In Sunamganj, the Surma River was flowing 77 cm above the danger level at Sunamganj point while 91 mm rainfall was recorded in the district over the last 24 hours since Thursday.
The heavy rainfall and flashflood have inundated many areas of the district, including a large part of the district town, Tahirpur, Bishwambharpur, Doarabazar.
In Kurigram, the Dharala River is flowing close to its danger level. The inundation has already extended to nearly 100 villages in the char areas of the district, leaving thousands of people marooned.
According to Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), the water level in the Teesta River has increased by 28.89 cm over the last 24 hours since Thursday, while the water levels in the Brahmaputra, Dharala and Dudhkumar Rivers swelled fast during the period.
Strong currents in the Dharala River have also started eroding about half a one-km stretch of the riverbank at Chorarpar village in Sadar upazila since Friday morning.
Besides, a good portion of vegetable fields at the village have been inundated. Croplands in Uttar Newbosh, Chowdhurypara, Char Sitaijhar, Malbhanga and Kadamtola villages have also been submerged.
About 25 houses have been washed away by the Dudhkumar River at Char Jatrapur and Parbatipur villages in Jatrapur union of Sadar upazila over the last two days.
Although the flood situation in Khagrachhari district town improved a bit on Friday, it worsened in Dighinala upazila.
The Maini River in Dhighinala upazila is flowing above its red mark, flooding the low-laying areas.
Road communication between Dighinala and Longdu of Rangamati remained suspended for the second day due to the inundation of the Merung Bridge in the upazila, while communication between the district town and Ganjapara area was cut off as the approach road to the Second hengi Bridge was damaged severely on Friday.
Meanwhile, the floodwater was receding from 35 villages in the district town and people began leaving the 9 shelter centres for their respective villages.
In Khulna, the embankment of the Buribhadra River was damaged at some points at Chandgarh village in Dumuria upazila by the strong current of the river, leading to the inundation of low-lying areas, including 13 educational institutions, in the upazila.
The people of the inundated areas have taken refuge at cyclone shelters in Chandgarh, Jaliakhali, Brittibirala and other areas as well as on higher places of the embankment.
