Four vehicles torched in pre-hartal violence in city

At least four vehicles, including a Rab pickup van, were torched in the city ahead of a countrywide daylong shutdown to be enforced by the BNP-led 18-part alliance on Wednesday.Fire brigade sources said a private car was torched in front of Aisha Memorial Hospital at Mohakhali around 1:30 pm.
Besides, a microbus was set ablaze near New Market Police Station around 1:40pm while a Rab pickup van near Nilkhet patrol pump under Lalbagh Police Station almost simultaneously.
Around 12:00 noon, a passenger bus was set afire at Arambagh.
At least four crude bombs were set off near BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the afternoon.
However, there was no report of any casualty in the incidents.
The 18-party opposition alliance on Monday called the hartal, demanding withdrawal of all the ‘false’ cases filed against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman to ensure his homecoming as a free man.
