Graft charge hearing against Moudud deferred

A Dhaka Thursday deferred hearing in a graft case filed against BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed and his brother Manjur Ahmed to March 12.
Judge-in-Charge Md Imrul Kayes of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the order in response to a time petition filed on behalf of Barrister Moudud in his absence.The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station in the capital on December 17, 2013 for allegedly embezzling a government plot measuring one Bigha and 13 Kathas in Gulshan residential area.
On May 25, last year the charge of the case was submitted to the court against Moudud and his brother.
The case record says that the then DIT, at present Rajuk transferred the plot to Md Ehsan, a Pakistani citizen and later the plot was registered in the name of his wife Inje Maria. Later, she had left the country during the War of Liberation and plot was included in the list of abandoned property. But Barrister Moudud alleged got a power of attorney from Inje Maria and established him as her tenant. – Court Correspondent
