Dhaka – A housewife was strangled to death allegedly by her husband in the capital’s Uttarkhan area on Friday evening, UNB news agency reported.
Rubel Mia, husband of victim Munni Akhter, remains missing since incident – lending credence to the allegation against him.
Police recovered the body early on Saturday upon being informed.Sub-Inspector Tariqul Islam of Uttar Khan police station said Munni Akhter was a resident of the Lalmia house on the west side of Katchpura Bazar of Uttarkhan with her husband.
The two got married around two years back, and Munni recently gave birth to a baby. However Rubel used to torture her regularly for dowry, SI Tariqul said quoting family members of the victim.
On this fatal occasion, Munni was allegedly tortured and later strangulated between 4pm and 7pm on Friday in her bedroom. Uttarkhan thana police recovered the body at around 3:30 am, said SI Tariqul Islam.
More including the actual reason for the killing could be known the postmortem report.
Md Motaleb, Munni’s father of the victim, filed the case at the Uttarkhan police station accusing his son-in-law Rubel.
