New Delhi: “If the Western powers want then the ISIS can be crushed within days but it has been deliberately given a long lease of life by the West so that their military intervention can continue unabated in Syria and the Middle East,’’ said President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind – Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umariin the monthly press meet today at the Jamaat headquarters.Jamaat completely denounces the ISIS and its activities. The excesses committed by ISIS have nothing to do with Islam. It should be noted that the maximum number of people killed by ISIS belong to the Islamic faith and the continued existence of ISIS guarantees the negative stereotyping of Islam at the hands of a section of the media. Jamaat is of the opinion that the creation and existence of ISIS might be a deep conspiracy of the West to defame Islam and divide Muslims. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind strongly condemns the recent arrest of Muslim youth in various parts of the country on charges of association with the ISIS. The basic principle of justice that one is presumed innocent until proved guilty is being blatantly violated in the case of Muslims being arrested for being alleged ISIS commanders, masterminds and recruiters. Jamaat feels that the police and the law enforcement agencies are blatantly misusing the various anti-terror laws and targeting innocent Muslim youth by detaining them illegally in order to create a fear psychosis among Muslims and to harass and malign them. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind demands the Government of India to immediately release all those Muslim youth detained on fake charges and without sufficient evidence. The authorities must stop misusing the law to subjugate and humiliate its own citizens.
Earlier while briefing the press, Vice President of Jamaat Janab Nusrat Ali said regarding the recently passed Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Bill that: ‘’Jamaat welcomes this Bill but is of the opinion that legislation and punishment are not the only way to preventing sexual crimes. The malaise is rooted socially and should also be addressed at the social level. The practice of objectifying women and exploiting their bodies to titillate men is rampant in films, mass media and advertising. Alcohol and a culture of permissiveness and promiscuity are promoted by the corporates and multinationals. Uncensored pornography and perverse literature is corrupting the minds of the youth and is destroying the social and moral fabric of our nation. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind believes that a crime-free society can be developed by character building and instilling piety in the minds of people. All the roads and avenues that lead to perversion and sexual anarchy must be blocked and the merchants of vulgarity and titillation must be put behind bars. There is a strong correlation between alcohol consumption and sexual crimes and Jamaat demands a complete country-wide ban on alcoholic drinks. We must endeavor to create a nation in which marriage is easy and simple while rape and adultery is difficult and unthinkable. Without being morally strong and creating a just and effective system of punishment for heinous crimes we cannot dream of leading the world in the 21st century.JanabNusrat Ali also expressed his dismay at the revelation that around two-thirds of the budgetary allocations have not been utilized by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs for the current year. Given the documented educational and economic backwardness of the Muslim community, Jamaat feels that the budgetary allocation for Minorities is miniscule to say the least. But, if that meager amount is also not utilized fully,then it means that the Central Government’s slogan of ‘’Sab KaSaath Sab KaVikas’’ is nothing but deception and plain rhetoric. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is of the opinion that like the SC /ST communities, the minorities of India (who constitute nearly 21% of the population) and specially Muslims deserve a substantial increase in the national budget for removing their educational and economic backwardness. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in its current four year plan has focused on working to assure 100 % utilization of funds for Minority Welfare by creating awareness and by implementing some other initiatives. – message from India
