A Dhaka court on Wednesday rejected the bail petitions two journalists of the Daily Inqilab after hearing. Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jahurul Haque passed the order at noon after hearing on two separate bail petitions. The two accused media men are the daily’s news editor Rabiullah Rabi and Deputy Chief Reporter Rafique Mohammad.
Earlier, on January 17, Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court also rejected the bails of the duo.
Other journalist of the daily, diplomatic reporter Atiqur Rahman is yet to seek his bail to this court. But, after a two-day remand, January 29, he made a confessional statement to a Dhaka court admitting his involvement with the incident under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
On January 16, police arrested three journalists of the daily and sealed off its printing press conducting a raid on its RK Mission Road office in the capital.
