Inquiry of ‘special’ city bus services or deep freeze

Dhaka, May 3 – Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on Tuesday formed an eight-member committee to probe the necessity of operating ‘Sitting Service’ or ‘Gate Lock’ on the city streets.The committee has been formed with BRTA director (Road Safety) Mahbub-e-Rabbani as its head, official sources told journalists.
The committee has been asked to probe whether the passenger buses will be allowed to ply the city streets in the name of ‘Sitting Service’ or ‘Gate Lock’, what rules will be followed by passenger buses and how the public transport sector could be developed.
The committee will have to submit its report within three months. – UNB
