Investigation report on Bodi’s wealth submitted to ACC

The investigation report on the allegations of amassing wealth illegally by ruling party lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi of Cox’s Bazar-4 has been submitted before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday, said an ACC official.
The preliminary investigation found Bodi involved in amassing illegal wealth and the investigative officer (IO) sought approval of the commission to seek wealth statement of the ruling party lawmaker, he said.Earlier the ACC investigative official went to the constituency of the ruling party MP and carried out investigation into the allegations brought against him.
The investigative official collected relevant deeds and different documents from local administration.
On Sunday, the commission also quizzed Bodi on his affidavit submitted before the Election Commission (EC) prior to the January 5 parliamentary polls.
After emerging from the commission, Bodi however challenged the allegation brought against him saying that he would resign as a member of parliament, if found guilty in the allegation of amassing wealth illegally.
Ahsan Ali, a deputy director of ACC and also investigation officer of the allegation, quizzed him at ACC headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha area.
On February 4, the commission sent a notice asking him to make a statement appearing in person before the commission about the allegation of amassing illegal properties.
Earlier, the commission at a meeting on January 12 decided to probe allegations brought against seven sitting and former ministers, state ministers and lawmakers.
According to the affidavit submitted to the EC, the income of Abdur Rahman Bodi, has risen by 351 per cent in five years. Neat property has risen by 19 per cent. It is alleged that Bodi has shown his income statement which showed in his income tax return. – Stafeporter
