Jamaat’s 8-hour hartal held in Kaliganj

The eight-hour hartal called by the local Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami
in Kaliganj upazila protesting the arrest of the party’s upazila ameer
Sheikh Moslemuddin was observed without any major incidents of
violence on Saturday.
The shutdown began at 6.00am and will continue till 2.00pm.
Nurul Huda, secretary general of Satkhira district unit Jamaat,
announced the strike on Friday.
During the hartal hours, shops and business establishments remained
closed and vehicular movement suspended.
Pickets vandalised a bus in Nalta-Shibnagar area of the upazila in the morning.
Police on Thursday arrested Sheikh Moslemuddin, ameer of the Kaliganj
upazila unit Jamaat, on charge of attacking Border Guard Bangladesh
(BGB) members and vandalising a police vehicle in the upazila on
