A local Jubo Dal leader was shot dead by his rivals over establishing
supremacy at Kashipur village in Laxmipur Sadar upazila early Sunday.The victim, M Selim, was president of Kashipur ward unit Jubo Dal.
Police and locals said there was a longstanding dispute between Selim
and Ibrahim Hossain Ratan led Ratan Bahani of the area over
establishing supremacy.
As a sequel to previous enmity Ratan Bahini members swooped on Selim
and sprayed bullet on him indiscriminately, leaving him injured at
11:30 pm on Saturday.
Critically injured Selim was first admitted to Laxmipur Sadar hospital
and later shifted to Noakhali General Hospital as his condition
deteriorated.
Selim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 3.30am.
Tofayel Ahmed, a victim’s relative, said Ratan and his associates
killed Selim in a pre-planned way.
In-charge of Dattapara Police camp Noor Nabi said the body was kept at
Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
