A local Jubo League activist was shot down by unidentified miscreants at Baghdanga village in Monirampur upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Monowar Hossain, 26, son of Bulbul Gazi of the village and an activist of the local unit of ruling Awami League.Police said a young man came and asked Monowar to go with him in front of Baghdanga School while he was sitting with his friend in Baghdanga bazaar area around 9pm.When Monowar went in front of the school, a group of miscreants shot him, leaving him critically injured.Hearing the screaming of Monowar, local people rescued him and took him to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 10pm.On information, police visited the spot.Molla Khabir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, confirmed the incident. -UNB,Benapole
