Khulna Metro to have three new police stations

The government is going to set up three new police stations in Khulna
Metropolitan Police (KMP) area after a gape of long 27 years.The new police stations are Labonchhara, Arongghata and Sundarban
(Khulna University).
With the three new, the number of police stations under KMP would reach eight.
Shahidul Islam, police commissioner of KMP, said all formal procedures
have already been completed except activities related to opening of
those (new thanas) such as construction of structures and recruitment
of police personnel.
KMP started its journey in 1986 with the present five police stations
and since then 27 years have gone by.
Population in the city has increased manifold by this time.
Moreover, business related activities and criminal offences have
increased along with growth of industries.
As a result, law enforcing agencies are facing difficulties to
maintain law and order in the city with the only five police stations.
The new three police stations would play significant role in giving
service to the city dwellers, added Shahidul.
