Killer driver who ran car over Selim Bepari will be caught by CCTV

Dhaka, June 21 – The person who was driving the car which killed one Selim Bepari will be identified by CCTV footage and Police are trying to find out the person who was steering the car, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) yesterday. On 19 June Selim Bapary, 45, who was a professional driver was run over and killed by an AUDI (SUV) near Mohakhali flyover in the capital.
Masudur Rahman said a case was filed over the incident. We are trying to identify the car owner. By contacting Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), we will confirm the owner and his address. At the same time, we must identify who was driving the car while the incident occurred.
We will analyze any footage of nearby close circuit cameras, which can be found possible. We will also question them. After confirming about the person who was mainly driving the car then we will conduct our operation to detain him, said the deputy Commissioner.
Masudur Rahman mentioned that the incident has not happened too long. Legal action will be taken after collecting proper evidence.
However, police could not seize the car but an investigation is going on over the matter, also said the deputy Commissioner.
Witnesses told reporters that the luxury vehicle was driven by a lawmaker’s son Shabab Chowdhury, who did not stop after hitting the man.
Shabab Chowdhury, son of Ekramul Karim Chowdhury is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the current Member of Parliament from Noakhali-4.
The family of MP denied the allegation, claiming their car was involved in the accident, but not Shabab. They also want to escape from the incident by giving compression to the victim’s family.
Shabab’s mother Kamrun Nahar Shiule, the chairperson of Kabirhat Upazila Council in Noakhali, admitted that the car involved in the accident belonged to her, but denied the claim that Shabab was driving it.
Ekramur Rahman, APS of Kamrunnahar Shiuli said that they will get rid of the lawsuit by negotiations and also claimed that Shabab who is alleged to drive the car was in Noakhali during the time of the accident.
However, the APS also claimed that their personal driver was driving the car that time and also absconding after the accident. The car is now in Noakhali. – Staff Reporter
