Limon with 7 others indicted in arms case

A local court on Monday indicted eight people, including college student Limon Hossain who was maimed allegedly by members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in 2011 in an arms case filed by the elite force. Kiran Chandra Haldar, Judge of the Special Tribunal Court-2, framed charges against Limon and seven members of criminal gang ‘Morshed Bahini’ following charge-framing hearing on Sunday and Monday.
Limon was shot at his right leg by some Rab men during a drive at Saturia village in Rajapur upazila on March 23, 2011 and he eventually got his leg amputated.
Rab filed two cases against Limon branding him as a criminal and police submitted charge sheets in both the cases in which the police described him as a member of local criminal gang ‘led by Mizan and Morshed’, and accused him of obstructing the law enforcers from their duties.
Limon and his mother Henoara Begum were present at the courtroom when the judge indicted the college student on Monday.
Limon’s mother broke into tears after the court order.                                                                     – UNB
