Man killed in Chuadanga clash over land

A man was killed and five others injured in a clash between two rival groups over a land-related dispute at Hosenpur village in Alamdanga upazila on Thursday.The deceased was identified as Ashraf Hossain, 42, a resident of the village.Quoting locals, police said two groups of villagers had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.As a sequel to the enmity, an altercation ensued between the two groups in the morning.At one stage of altercation, both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving Ashraf dead on the spot and five others injured.The injured—Biplob, Idris, Akman, Liton and Asman—were rushed to a local hospital.Of them, Idris and Asman were shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.Officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station Mamunur Rashid confirmed the incident.Additional police members have been deployed in the area. -UNB, Chuadanga
