A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed M Shahidul Islam, a close associate of Jubo League leader Sakhawat Hossain Chanchal, on a four-day remand in the Riazul Haque Khan Milky murder case. Metropolitan Magistrate Tanvir Ahmed passed the order when Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) produced him before his court seeking remand for him. Kazemur Rashid, assistant superintendent of police of Rab-1 and also the investigation officer of the case, produced Shahidul before the court with a seven-day remand prayer. In the remand prayer, the IO told the court that he needed to take Shahidul on remand to find out clues about the arms used in the killing of Milky, organising secretary of Dhaka City (South) unit of Jubo League. After hearing, the court placed him on four days’ remand. Earlier on Tuesday, Rab members arrested Shahidul from Kamalapur Railway Station in the city. With the latest arrest, a total of nine people were held in connection with the sensational murder. Milky was gunned down by his close associate HM Zahid Siddique Tarek in front of Shoppers World at Gulshan in the city in the early hours of July 30. Milky’s brother Maj Rashidul Haque Khan filed a murder case with Gulshan Police Station against 11 people, including Tarek, on the day. Meanwhile, Tarek and another suspected terrorist Shah Alam were killed in a ‘shootout’ with Rab members at Khilkhet in the city on July 31. (Sources: UNB)
