Miscreants shot a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Kadamtoli area of city’s Mirpur on Sunday morning.The deceased was identified as AKM Fazlul Haque Babu, president of capital’s ward-94 BCL unit, also a 2nd-year student of Mirpur University College.Kafrul police station OC Kazi Wazed Ali told banglanews, “Miscreants shot him in front of Mojibur Rahman Jame Mosque in city’s Mirpur area around 11:15 am while talking with a friend, leaving him injured critically.”
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
Hedayet Ullah, father of the deceased, said, “Babu’s aunt bought a piece of land from one Titu. But the owner did not hand over the ownership to her.”
Babu might have been killed over the land dispute and Titu might be involved in the killing, alleged Hedayet.
But police is yet to identify the killers.
After the incident, a team of plain dressed police is conducting drives in the area to arrest the culprits. banglanews4.com
