India on Friday said that the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Quader Molla was an internal matter of Bangladesh.Inidia’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said the execution of the death sentence awarded to the Assistant General Secretary of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Abdul Quager Molla, was an outcome of Bangladesh’s judicial process.
Molla was hanged at 10.01pm on Thursday after the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court rejected earlier in the day Molla’s appeal for a review of his death sentence.
The remains of the Jamat leader were taken to his ancestral home in Faridpur and buried before daybreak with hundreds of his supporters attending the funeral.
On Thursday, Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia had urged India to ‘respect the aspirations of the majority in Bangladesh’, suggesting that the neighbour uses its influence to persuade the Awami League government to hold an inclusive election.-bdnews24.com
