Mosaddek Ali Falu on 5-day remand in bus torching case

A Dhaka court has ordered five days in police custody for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu.
The former MP was produced before the court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haque on Monday.
Police pleaded with the court to question him over an arson case for 10 days. Falu’s lawyers filed a petition for bail which was rejected.Falu, who owns private TV station NTV, was detained by detectives on Sunday in front of the BNP chief’s Gulshan office.
Plainclothesmen surrounded him when he was getting in the car with an NTV sticker on it.
On Jan 30, a bus of ‘Turag Paribahan’ was set on fire at the capital’s Goran leaving four with burn injuries.
The owner Md Nazrul Islam filed a case the same day with the Khilgaon police.
BNP Joint Secretary General Amanullah Aman, Dhaka Metropolitan unit BNP’s Member Secretary Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, BNP chief’s special aide Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, and18 other party leaders were accused of the arson.
The BNP-led alliance is enforcing an indefinite blockade of roads, rail and waterways across Bangladesh since Jan 5 demanding a dialogue with the government to pave the way for a snap election. – bdnews25.com
