Mufti Jasim on remand in blogger Rajib murder case

Dhaka – A Dhaka Court on Tuesday placed Mufti Jasim Uddin Rahmani, reported chief of Ansarullah Bangla Team, on a seven-day remand for police interrogation in blogger Rajib murder case.Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order  Tuesday after the Detective Branch (DB) police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
He was produced the CMM court of Dhaka from Barguna for hearing.
Jasim was shown arrested in both Rajib murder case filed with Pallabi Police Station and in the other case filed with West Uttara Police Station for assassination attempt on blogger Asif Mohiuddin.
Earlier on August 25, the court placed nine other members of this militant group on a five-day remand each in a case under filed under the Anti-terrorism Act.
On August 12, some 31 members of Ansarullah Bangla Team including Jasim Uddi Rahmani were arrested from Barguna district, while they were allegedly holding a secret meeting in a house at Khajurtola on the outskirts of Barguna town.
Police allegedly recovered a computer, a laptop, books and over 50 CDs from Jasim’s residence and office in Mohammadpur of the capital.
Police also recovered a hit-list containing the names of 12 people, including two ministers of  the ruling Awami League Government, blogger Rajib and Asif.
Ganajagaran Mancha activist Rajib Haider was killed on  February 15 in front of his residence at Mirpur of the city. – Court Correspondent
