Muhith blames EU envoy for ‘msiconduct,’calls Pakistan ‘barbaric’

Minister for Finance Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Thursday compared the behaviour of the European Union Ambassador with sheer misconduct and termed Pakistan as a barbaric nation.He made this remark as the EU Ambassador did not go to the National Mausoleum at Savar on the Victory Day and Pakistan protested the execution of Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
Talking to reporters after a meeting on providing incentive package in readymade garments and textile sectors, the Minister criticised the EU Ambassador for not to go to National Memorial to pay homage to memory of heroic sons of the soil.
“The EU Ambassador did not go to the National Memorial. This is a sheer misconduct,” he said adding that whatever the international courtesies like Vienna Convention were created in Europe and that makes bad feelings further.
Bangladesh Bank’s Governor Dr Atiur Rahman, Finance Secretary Fazle kabir, Chairman of National Revenue Board Golam Hossain and Bank and Financial Institution Affairs Department Secretary  M Aslam Alam, among others, were present in the meeting held in the evening. – Staff Reporter
