NGO employee shot, mugged in Jessore

Miscreants mugged money from an NGO employee after shooting him at Baliadanga area on the Jessore- Narail Road under Jessore sadar upazila at around 1:30pm on Sunday, said Hasib Newaz, public relations officer, Jagorani Chhakra Foundation.The victim Bishwajit Mondol, 30, field worker of Jagorani Chakra  Foundation, was taken to Dhaka by a helicopter with bullet wound in the chest, Hasib Newaz told New Nation.Nahidul Islam, in-charge, Jhumjhumpur branch, Jagorani Chakra Foundation said muggers fled the scene after taking money shooting Bishwajit Mondol, employee of the branch while he ws returning the officer at around 1:30pm.Shikder Akkas Ali, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station said muggers took away money from the NGO employee after shooting him.Hasib Newaz said the wounded was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital with critical condition and shifted him to Dhaka by a helicopter at around 5pm. ‘It is not clear how much money was looted,’ Hasib added.No case was lodged immediately and none was arrested.Jessore Correspondent
