Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni congratulated Sheikh Hasina for her reelection as Bangladesh Prime Minister following the 10th parliamentary elections. In a message to Hasina, OIC chief Iyad bin Amin Madani hoped that under her wise and far-sighted leadership, the people of Bangladesh will witness broad unity and consolidation in the coming years. The Secretary General expressed his deep interest to work closely with the Bangladesh Prime Minister on issues of mutual interests and concern. The Secretary General also said the OIC is ready to extend all possible support to Bangladesh in its endeavours for political unity, economic progress and social stability. In separate message, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai hoped that the existing friendly relations between Afghanistan and Bangladesh would continue to be strengthened and further consolidated. In another message Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said the reelection of the Prime Minister following the recent parliamentary elections is a clear testimony of the trust and confidence that the people of Bangladesh have in her able leadership to further socio-economic transformation of Bangladesh. He also mentioned that Uganda values the warm bilateral relations existing between the two friendly countries and looks forward to working with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take the bilateral relations to a new height, according to a Foreign Ministry media release issued on Wednesday. – UNB
