Police claim identifed the financiers of Gulshan attack

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Monirul Islam yesterday claimed that they identified three financiers of the Holey Artisan Bakery attack.He made the claim while addressing at press conference at DMP Media Center in the city.
Monirul, also the chief of the Counterterrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit said, three financiers were identified as Dr Rokon Uddin, Tanveer Quaderi and Major Zahid.
Dr Rokon left the country for Syria to join the Islamic State (IS) while the other two died in two anti-militant operation in their dens.
According to the top intelligence officer, former registrar of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital Dr Rokon gave Tk80 lakh to the New JMB, to run the attack while Tanveer donated money which came from the sale of his Uttara flat and Major Zahid gave away his full pension for the militancy.
Tanveer died in the Azimpur gunfight during a police drive and Major Zahid was killed in a special operation in Rupnagar.
Replying to another question, the CTTC boss said, the old JMB are trying to come under a single banner with the Ansarullah Bangla Team.
Meanwhile, CTTC arrested seven suspected members of banned militant outfit JMB from Tejgaon area in the capital with guns, machetes and lot of looted goods including gold jewelries and money.
The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Kashem alias Kawsar alias Kashu, 20, Nazmul Hasan alias Nayan alias Noresh, 23, Mohammad Rashed alias Kakoly’s Baba, 27, Mohammad Sentu Hawlader alias Jahid, 26, Mohammad Abu Bakkar Siddique alias Shuro alias Akash, 20, Mohammad Abdul Baset, 22, and Mohammad Jewel Sarker alias Sohrab alias Sarker, 32.
DMP spokesman told that the arrests were made on Monday evening during raids.
They militant also involved in robberies in different parts of the capital. The looted money was used for their organisational activities.
Monirul said 67 bhoris of gold jewelries, Tk 600,000, four guns, five magazines, 10 bullets, nine machetes, and various other looted goods including television, laptop and a motorcycle were also seized from those arrested.
