Police restricts vehicular movement in Rajshahi before poll

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has imposed restriction on plying
of motor vehicles for successful and peaceful holding of election to
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) scheduled to be held on June 15.
A press release signed by SM Munir-Uz-Zaman, Commissioner of RMP, here
yesterday says the restriction has been imposed on plying of baby
taxi, taxi, cab, micro-bus, jeep, pickup, car, bus, truck and tempo in
the city area from 12 midnight of June 14 to 12 midnight of June 15.
Besides, plying of all sorts of motorbikes will be restricted from 12
midnight of June 12 to 12 midnight of June 15, the release said.
However, contesting candidates and their election agents, local and
foreign journalists (ID card bearing), law enforcing agencies and
inspectors engaged in the election purposes will be allowed to use
motor vehicles on prior permission from the Returning Officer.
Apart from this, ambulance, fire service, electricity, gas, post
office, telephone and other utility services will remain beyond of the
restriction purview.
Besides, the restriction will remain relaxed on plying of vehicles
transporting emergency goods and medicines on the highway, the release
added.
