Public university teachers demand Muhith’s resignation.

Accusing Finance Minister AMA Muhith of reneging on his promise to meet their various demands, public university teachers here on Sunday demanded his resignation.Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, president of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association, came up with the demand at a press briefing at Dhaka University Club.

Prof Farid said the Finance Minister had assured them of keeping the selection grade and time scale for university teachers in the 8th national pay scale. “But, there’re no selection grade, time scale and other facilities in the new pay scale as promised by the Finance Minister,” he said.

The federation president also said they think this is humiliating for the teachers and betrayal with them.

Reading out a written statement, Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, secretary general of the federation, said their demands must be met this month, or else, they would launch a tough movement after January 2.
