Publication ceremony of two books on Kazi Zafar held

Dhaka, Sept 17 – The publication ceremony of two books on Jatiya Party leader and former prime minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed was held at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday with speakers calling for upholding the spirit of democracy championed by the late leader. The two books were ‘Amar Rajnitir 60 Bochor’ an autobiography by Kazi Zafar Ahmed and ‘Kazi Zafar Ahmed Smarok Grantha’ a compilation of writing by the late leader’s political associates and admirers.
Prof. Emajuddin Ahmed, former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University was the chief guest at the function presided over by Mostafa Jamal Haider, secretary general of Jatiya Party (Zafar-Jamal).
BNP’s standing committee member Lt. Gen. Mahbubur Rahman (retd), president of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rob, Vice-Chairman of BNP Adv Nitai Roy Chowdhury, president of the International Farakka Committee, Atiqur Rahman Salu, Prof. Abdul Quader Bhuiyan, ex-VC of Khulna University, ex-MPs Ahsan Habib Lincoln among others.
The speakers recalled the courageous role played by Kazi Zafar Ahmed against the military rule of Ayub Khan, during the War of Liberation, in post-independence Bangladesh and said that he was a courageous political leader and pursued his political objectives to improve the quality of life of the common people.
They said that the student leaders have a lot to learn from the examples set by Kazi Zafar. – Staff Reporter
