Remarks against Bangabandhu: Accused obtain bail

Dhaka – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Wednesday granted bail to two Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) leaders after hearing in a case filed on the charge of making derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.Magistrate Laskor Sohel Rana of the CMM Court passed the order yesterday after hearing on their bail petitions. The Rehab leaders are- Vice President (Finance) of the organisation Md Sohel Rana and member Shamim Ahmed.
On September 19, Dhanmondi Thana Awami League member Md Motaleb Sikder Nannu filed the case against two Rehab leaders for making derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Later, the concerned judge took cognizance of the case.
Later, on October 11, the accused allegedly threatened to kill Rehab director Kamal Mahmud in this connection and he lodged a diary with Kalabagan Police Station of the city.
As the incident was proved true, SI Monjur Hossain of the police station submitted non-FIR prosecution report to the court after inquiry. Later, the court issued warrant orders against the accused. – Special Correspondent
