Rony’s again refused bail

Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court on Tuesday denied bail to Awami League MP Gulam Maula Rony in a case filed for assaulting two journalists of The Independent Television.Judge-in-Charge of the Dr Md Akhteruzzaman rejected Rony’s bail petition after hearing on it.
On July 25, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka sent Rony to jail after rejecting his bail plea and sent him to jail in the case filed for beating The Independent TV reporter Imtiaz Momin and cameraperson Mohsin Mukul at his Topkhana Road office in the capital on July 20. The two media men are
members of a team that produces crime investigation show for the TV channel.
Rony obtained ad interim bail from the CMM Court on July 21 upon a bond of Tk 5,000 and it was cancelled on July 24 following an appeal of Yusuf Ali, assistant manager of the TV channel, who alleged that Rony issued threat to him after he got bail from the court.
The investigation officer of the case SubInspector Abu Zafar made inquiry into the allegation and found it true, which led to the arrest of MP Rony. – Court Correspondent
