‘Rural electrification is a must to lessen people’s sufferings’

State Minister for Industries Omor Faruk Chowdhury has said rural electrification is very
essential to lessen the sufferings of the grassroots people.
He asked all the officials and staff of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) to render their services
with utmost sincerity and honesty to further expansion of the rural power supply.
He made the instruction while addressing a meeting of power supply programme review
in the area at PBS office in Rajshahi Saturday. He also inspected different sections of the
office and its activities.
Faruk Chowdhury said power supply programme has to be implemented quickly
to reduce the rural people’s sufferings. He mentioned that progress of the project
implementation is largely dependent on sincerity and competence of the PBS officials.
Chief Engineer of Rajshahi Power Development Board Masud Al Faruque, PBS General
Manager Zulfiker Rahman and other officials concerned were present at the review
meeting.
Chowdhury also witnessed the final match of Bangabandhu and Bangamata
Fazilatunnessa Mujib Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament on Tanore
Dakbanglow Playground. Some 127 football teams took part in the competition.
He also attended the prize-giving ceremony of Tanore Upazila Inter-school, Madrasa and
College Debate Competition. He distributed computer, laptops and notebooks among the
winners.
On the occasion, 337 students, who scored GPA-5 in SSC examination under the upazila,
were accorded reception.
Among others, senior citizen Dr Sultan Ahmed, Upazila Chairman Emran Ali Mollah,
UNO Mazeda Yeasmin and Mundumala Pourasabha Mayor Golam Rabbani also spoke
