The local administration has imposed section 144 at Kathalbari in Birampur upazila
as two rival groups of BNP called their programmes at the same venue and time for
Thursday.
The restriction will remain in force for an indefinite period from 9.00am of the day.
Locals informed that a part of the local BNP led by MP Engineer Golam Mostafa called
a meeting in Kathalbari Char Matha area for Thursday, on the eve of arrival of BNP
chairperson Khaleda Zia in the area.
Meanwhile, Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangstha (JASAS) central vice-chairman Lion Sirajul
Islam also called a meeting at the same venue and time.
Later, UNO Shahana Akhtar on Thursday morning slapped the ban on all types of
gathering at the venue to maintain law and order in the area. –Our Correspondent,
