Security beefed at jails for ‘fear of subversive acts’

Dhaka – Security has been beefed up at all the jails across the country fearing subversive acts.
Sources at the Department of Prisons said the decision came following an intelligence report after the killing of an alleged top criminal in front of Jessore Central Jail soon after his release on bail, Unb news agency reported.All the jail security guards have been asked to perform their duty sincerely, sources said, adding that if anyone is found guilty of negligence, punitive actions will be taken against them.
Hemayet Hossain, 38, son of Jinnat Hossain of Mondalgati in the suburb of the district town of Jessore, the alleged ringleader of notorious terror group ‘Hemayet Bahini’, was shot to death by
unidentified assailants at Jessore Central Jail gate in the district town on Monday evening soon after his release on bail.
As soon as he stepped out of the jail gate after his release on bail, three miscreants in two motorcycles appeared on the scene and shot Hemayet thrice, leaving him injured.
He was taken to Jessore General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
