Shibir president on 35-day, Rana’s father 4-day remand

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Islami Chhatra Shibir president Delwar Hossain on another 35 days’ fresh remand in five cases filed with Motijheel and Paltan Police Stations of the capital.Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor of the Chief Metropolitan (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the remand orders, after Delwar was produced to his court with prayers seeking 45 days’ remand.
Of the cases four were filed with Motijheel Police Station while the other case was filed Paltan Police Station.
On April 16, Delwar was put on 18 days’ remand in five cases filed with five police stations in the capital.
Delwar Hossain was arrested from his relative’s house in Shyamoli area of the city on March 31.
Meanwhile, a court on Tuesday placed Rana Plaza’s o wner Sohel Rana’s father Abdul Khalek on another 4-day remand in the murder case filed against him for negligence of duty under
Section 304 of the Penal Code.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Wasim Sheikh passed the order Tuesday after the Detective Branch of Police produced Khalek to his court on completion earlier granted 13 days’ remand with a fresh remand plea for five days to interrogate him further.
Earlier, Khalek was put on 7 days’ remand in this case and 5 days’ remand in the other case filed under the Building Construction Code.
At least 1,127 garment workers were found dead and thousand others injured as the 8-storey building collapsed in Savar of Dhaka on April 24.
