Mymensingh, May 11 : Five passengers and the driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed when the 3-wheeler was run over by a passenger bus at Kakni area on Sherpur-Mymensingh highway in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh on Friday afternoon. The victims are driver of the vehicle Sona Mia, 35, of Gudaria village in Phulpur upazila while CNG passengers-Ayub Ali, 55, his son Abdul Karim, 35, Mazharul Islam, 19, Salim Uddin, 19, and Nazim Uddin Bhuiyan, 45, of village Nagla Garpara in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh.
Md Mazharul Haque, officer-in-charge of Tarakanda Police Station said the accident took place when the three-wheeler run over by a Dhaka bound bus of Imam Paribahon, killing five on the spot and injuring one other around 3.15pm.
The injured person was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said the OC quoting hospital sources.
Police seized the bus immediately after the incident while its staff managed to flee, the OC added.
Police recovered the bodies. A case was lodged with Tarakanda Police Station. – Staff Reporter
