President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Monday criticised the government for sending senior BNP leaders including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to jail describing it out of political courtesy.
“People like Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas are available at any time. They are not type of people to run away. They should be given opportunity to speak on the street,” he said while talking to reporters after coming out from the residence of Mirza Fakhrul at Uttara in the afternoon.The former President said that he does not like the policy to send them to jail instead they could be questioned outside the prison.
Earlier, B Chowdhury met Fakhrul’s wife Rahat Ara Begum and enquired about their family members. He stayed with them for about 30 minutes.
It may be mentioned that three senior BNP leaders including Mirza Abbas were sent to jail by a magistrate court on Sunday by rejecting their bails in case of vandalism. – Staff Reporter
